A two-day national seminar on “Empowering Communities through Libraries for Sustainable Social Change” was organised jointly by the Academic Library Association (ALA) and the Kerala Medical Librarians Association (KMLA) here on Monday and Tuesday.
Creative engagement of people is an ideal solution to curb anti-social elements in society and reading is the most creative habit that needs to be developed among the people, K.S. Anil, Vice-Chancellor (V-C), Kerala Veterinary University, said while inaugurating the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR ) sponsored National Library Seminar in Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, here.
Kannan C.S. Warrier, Director, Kerala Forest Research Institute, spoke about the importance of reading, writing and involvement in arts to strengthen the scientific and social fabric of society. Speakers at the event suggested that library professionals should absorb the benefits of artificial intelligence for providing effective reference service.
As many as 65 papers were presented by 96 authors at the programme. Fr. Julious Arakkal CMI, Director, Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, presided over the function.
