Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu discussed various issues during his interactions with Union Ministers Amit Shah (Home), Nirmala Sitharaman (Finance) and Nitin Gadkari (Road Transport & Highways) in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Addressing the media later, Mr. Naidu said he urged the Union Government to clear the A.P. Land Grabbing Prohibition Bill, emphasising its necessity for protection of lands in both the urban and rural areas, and discussed the inter-linking of rivers that was aimed at preventing wastage and ensuring irrigation for the parched Rayalaseema region.

Mr. Naidu said he also requested the Centre to help in expediting the infrastructure projects, including the 189-km-long Amaravati Outer Ring Road and coastal roads.

The Chief Minister said land grabbing was a pressing issue, stating that six out of ten legal cases in the State pertained to land disputes, and pointed out that the lack of proper checks and balances in the land computerisation process had led to large-scale encroachments.

Further, he said that he raised certain law and order concerns in his meeting with Mr. Shah, wherein he stressed the need to curb bootlegging and illicit drug cultivation.

While praising the EAGLE force for effectively controlling the cultivation of ganja, Mr. Naidu reiterated his government’s zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and heinous crimes.

The Chief Minister said he highlighted the growth achieved by the State in the recent months during his meeting with Ms. Sitharaman, while emphasising on the need to boost the services sector and asserting that efforts were being made to achieve a 15% growth rate.

Regarding water resources, Mr. Naidu said he sought the Centre’s support for linking Polavaram to Banakacharla, and Vamsadhara, Nagavali, Penna and Krishna rivers in order to utilise an estimated 200 tmc ft mostly for the agriculture sector.
