Champions Trophy: All eyes on Fakhar as NZ bring in spin – Pakistan

New Zealand bowlers squeezing Green Shirts chase; 12th over complete.

Pakistan are 10 overs into their chase of the 321 target set by New Zealand in the opening match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy tournament at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Match summary by Abyan Amir: Pakistan are off to a bad start with the score at just 22 for the loss of two wickets as the pitch also shows signs of variable bounce. Skipper Rizwan did not fare well at one down, hitting the ball straight to point off O’Rourke after scoring just three off 14 balls.

Rizwan was the next man in after opener Saud got out cheaply for six of 19 as Fakhar Zaman was still not allowed to come into bat. The reason for this was his earlier absence from the field which meant he could not bat in the first 20 minutes of the Pakistan innings.

Pakistan will need a decent stand from Babar and Fakhar to make a match out of this chase of 320, who chose to bowl earlier in the day after winning the toss expecting dew to be a factor later in the innings.
