Apple launches newest and most affordable member of iPhone 16 series, iPhone 16e: Price, specifications, availability and more

Apple iPhone 16e is now official. The iPhone 16e is the newest member of the iPhone 16 lineup and is the most affordable iPhone launched in 2025 offering impressive capabilities at a more accessible price point. The iPhone 16e boasts the A18 chip for fast performance and also features Apple Intelligence.

iPhone 16e: Price and availability

iPhone 16e will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities, starting at Rs 59,900. Pre-orders begin on Friday, February 21, with availability starting Friday, February 28.
It can be purchased in black and white finishes with a variety of colourful cases to complement them. iPhone 16e Silicone Case will be available in five colours for Rs 3,900: winter blue, fuchsia, lake green, black and white.
“iPhone 16e packs in the features our users love about the iPhone 16 lineup, including breakthrough battery life, fast performance powered by the latest-generation A18 chip, an innovative 2-in-1 camera system, and Apple Intelligence,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing.

iPhone 16e sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR Display with Ceramic Shield front cover and tough back glass. Apple says that the Ceramic Shield front cover has an advanced formulation that is tougher than any smartphone glass; and the toughest back glass in a smartphone.
iPhone 16e is powered by Apple’s latest-generation A18 chip. The 6-core CPU is claimed to be up to 80% faster than the A13 Bionic chip on iPhone 11, and is complemented by a 4-core GPU to handle graphics-heavy tasks.
Expanding the benefits of Apple silicon, C1 is the first modem designed by Apple and the most power-efficient modem ever on an iPhone, delivering fast and reliable 5G cellular connectivity. Apple says that the A18 silicon — including C1 with all-new internal design, and the advanced power management of iOS 18 all contribute to extraordinary battery life.
The phone gets a 48MP Fusion camera with an integrated 2x Telephoto lens, offering optical zoom capabilities. iPhone 16e offers the ability to record in 4K with Dolby Vision up to 60 fps. iPhone 16e also records video in Spatial Audio for immersive listening with AirPods, Apple Vision Pro, or a surround sound system, and enables more ways to edit video sound with Audio Mix.
Additionally, the iPhone 16e includes Apple’s satellite features, enabling Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My functionality even outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.
Just like its peers in the iPhone 16 series of lineup, iPhone 16e is also built for Apple Intelligence, the company’s intuitive personal AI system. The 16-core Neural Engine is optimized for large generative models and runs machine learning (ML) models up to 6x faster than A13 Bionic.
It comes with tools like Clean Up in Photos, powered by Apple Intelligence, allows users to remove distractions from an image. Users can also explore creative ways to express themselves visually with Image Playground, create the emoji with Genmoj, and make their writing even more dynamic with Writing Tools.
Similar to iPhone 16 models, Siri is more conversational with the ability to follow along if users stumble over their words. With access to ChatGPT seamlessly integrated into Writing Tools and Siri, users can choose to access ChatGPT’s expertise without jumping between applications
There is IP68 water and dust resistance, and Apple Intelligence that provides personalised assistance and prioritises user privacy. Apple claims that iPhone 16e can last up to six hours longer than iPhone 11. iPhone 16e runs iOS 18 an Apple says that in April, users will be able to update their primary iPhone language to Bangla, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, or Urdu.
Other features include Face ID, Action Button for quick access to frequently used features and visual intelligence tools, and charging options, including both wireless and USB-C wired.
