The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] will organise padayatras and mass gatherings across 236 centres in the district from March 10 to 12 as part of a large-scale campaign against drug abuse and violence.
The initiative, involving students, youth, women, library workers, and Initiative for Rehabilitation and Palliative Care (IRPC) volunteers, would promote the message ‘No to drugs, no to violence’, CPI(M) district secretary M.V. Jayarajan said.
Addressing the media, he highlighted the alarming rise in drug abuse and gang violence, which, he said, was spreading fear in society.
“Extensive awareness needs to be created in society to counter the issue,” he said.
