Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Tuesday approved the proposal to transfer the 13.23-km stretch between Peeragarhi Chowk and the Tikri border to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The Minister said that after the transfer, the stretch will be developed and maintained according to the NHAI standards, helping to improve traffic flow and enhance connectivity between Delhi and Haryana.
Last week, BJP’s Mundka MLA Gajender Singh Drall requested the PWD Minister in the Delhi Assembly to give special attention to the Delhi-Rohtak road as congestion and traffic jams were affecting lakhs of commuters daily.
The development comes after the PWD Minister approached Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways.
Meanwhile, a senior PWD official said the department has set an April 30 deadline to fix over 7,000 potholes on roads across the national capital.
On February 21, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had chaired a meeting of the PWD officials to review the city roads.
The official said the PWD has also identified over patches requiring repair. The tender process for the repair work is expected to be completed by March 15, the official added.
