39 injured in jallikattu at two villages in Pudukottai

The jallikattu events organised at Neivasal and Edaiyathur villages in Pudukottai district left 39 persons injured on Friday.

As many as 870 bulls were released during the course of the seven-hour long event held at Edaiyathur with the number of participating tamers being 300.

Police sources said 35 persons were injured of which eight were referred to hospitals while the rest were treated as out-patients at the event venue.

A total number of 171 bulls were released during the event held at Neivasal in which 50 tamers participated. Four persons were injured of which one was referred to hospital. The remaining three injured were treated as out-patients at the event venue, the sources added.
